Healthy Mouth Sounds- Diabetes

Diabetes is a long time menace to overall health. There are 2 types of diabetes- Type 1 and Type 2. Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus affects children and young adults. There is a lack of insulin production, which is required to move the sugar we intake from the blood stream to inside the cells.

Type 2 diabetes or “adult onset diabetes” is acquired and represents a relative lack of insulin’s ability to move sugar into cells. Type 2 Diabetes represents 90%-95% of diabetes. When glucose levels rise in the bloodstream often we see the following symptoms:

Fatigue

Being thirsty

Frequent urination

Increased hunger

Weight loss when not intended

Slow healing wounds

This disease is usually diagnosed in people who are older and overweight. It is estimated that 80% of people who have Type 2 diabetes are overweight.

The good news about that is that, 90% of adult type 2 diabetics can reduce their blood sugars to normal, without medication, by implementing a healthy lifestyle.

So, what is a healthy lifestyle? Well, there are a number of elements to that answer including, diet, exercise, hygiene habits, & stress reduction, just to name a few.

Isabelle Simon, a Wellness consultant has a mantra that starts… Good health is a choice, not a chance.
